I’ve written in the past about how awesome the Dukes of Hazards emergency management podcast is. Seriously, if you haven’t checked it out, go do it now!
The latest episode (19) of Andrew and Mitch’s podcast features an outstanding interview with Brad Skillman from Florida State University who details the issues and timeline with the Flint, Michigan water crisis. While I had been aware of the general issues, I hadn’t realized the endemic system of failures at all levels of government that fueled this incident, victimizing all residents, business, and industry in Flint.

There’s a lot going on there… And the ramifications have spread into the entire state EM program as we’re holding up a lot of projects while the state EOC spends so much time working on Flint.
Thanks very much for the feedback. I can certainly see where this matter has become a significant distraction to not only the fractured and financially strapped government of Flint, but also to the entire state. Hopefully the long-term solutions can become finalized and implemented in short order.
Many lessons learned in this one about government administration, regulation, communication, and responsibility.
